Denton Mayor Chris Watts said he drove to Austin Friday and filed to run as a Republican in the Sept. 29 emergency special election for the Senate District 30 seat.
Watts, who describes himself as a fiscal conservative, said in an interview Friday that he wants to give the residents of SD 30 a voice in Austin.
